The much-anticipated bout between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao is all but set for March 13………Las Vegas, Dallas and New Orleans are the front-runners to host the bout, which is expected to become the highest-grossing boxing match in the sport’s history……..Pacquiao is the top pound-for-pound fighter in nearly every major ranking…… Mayweather is No. 2 in most rankings and was No. 1 in nearly all of the polls before he briefly retired in June 2008.
Manny Pacquaio established himself as one of the greats Saturday night, he picked apart and destroyed Miguel Cotto in a 12th round TKO…..here are some qoutes from the fight…..”The best fighter I have ever seen,” said his promoter, Bob Arum. “And that includes Muhammad Ali, and Sugar Ray Leonard and Marvin Hagler. The best fighter I have ever seen.”………..Manny is pound for pound the best fighter in the world…….(boxing fan with front row tickets)……..
Cotto landed 93 power punches, compared to 276 for Pacquiao……. Cotto had a terrible gash over his left eye…… his face had become grotesquely bloody….. his wife and son had left their ringside seats, unable to witness more…… Cotto’s father asked for a stoppage in the 11th….. finally, with Pacquiao still beating his @ss, Bayless granted his wish.
The Nevada State Athletic Commission ordered Cotto to skip the postfight press conference in favor of a body scan at the hospital. A publicist was left to convey his sentiments: “He wanted the media to know he fought the best fighter he ever fought.”
The Phoenix Suns re-sign 35 year -old Steve Nash to a 2-year deal worth $22 million, this deal will keep the two-time NBA MVP in Phoenix through the 2011-12 season…..Nash was rumored to be intrested in the New York Knicks for the 2010 free-agent bonanza.
