Seahawks to get new Uniforms!!!!… New Carolina Panthers Logo

Why do we care about the Panthers changing their logo for the first time in the team’s 18-year history? Well, there have been rumors the Panthers and Seahawks were the two teams that notified the league of looming changes, presumably to logo and uniform.

In fact, the Seahawks uniforms will be changing.

That has been the word for a while now. .

What we know: Nike becomes the NFL uniform supplier in 2012, taking over for Reebok. The expectation is the Seahawks will be getting new uniforms.

What we don’t know: What those uniforms look like. There are a number of drawings on the InterGoogle, but those aren’t official nor are they believed to be close to the actual model.

What we’ve heard: A little birdie gave out a few hints the helmets will be darker, and there will be some feather trim. The helmets are not expected to go back to being silver. But as McLoughlin indicated, it’s not going to be a massive overhaul.

Huskies nip Wildcats…grab 1st Place in Pac-12

Tony Wroten scored 17 points and blocked Josiah Turner’s layup at the buzzer to help Washington hold off Arizona for a 69-67 win on Saturday night.

Washington (14-7, 7-2 Pac-12) led by 11 with just under 6 minutes left before Arizona charged back. The Wildcats tied it at 67-all on Solomon Hill’s 3-pointer with 6.9 seconds left, but Turner was called for a blocking foul.

After C.J. Wilcox hit both free throws, Turner appeared to have an open lane to the basket, but Wroten tracked him down and swatted the ball off the backboard from behind.

Terrence Ross had 16 points and Wilcox finished with 15 in his second game back from a hip injury for the Huskies.

Hill had 28 points and 11 rebounds, and Jesse Perry added 13 points and 12 rebounds for Arizona (14-8, 5-4).

Tantric Tennis…5:53

Stupendous. Pick another word from the dictionary of excellence and it will fall short of doing justice to what the world’s two best tennis players served up for an astonishing five hours and 53 minutes in the final of the 2012 Australian Open…It was the 100th anniversary of this tournament, and Novak Djokovic, who somehow managed to hold on to his crown, celebrated in a manner that will be talked of down the ages.

Djokovic beat Rafael Nadal — his predecessor as world No. 1 — 5-7, 6-4, 6-2, 6-7(5), 7-5.

The fact that there were still well more than 14,000 people in Rod Laver Arena at 1:40 on a Monday morning says everything one needs to know about just how riveting this duel was; how extraordinary the level of skill and commitment from both men as they refused to bow to whatever the scoreboard was saying at the time and fought on, giving every last drop of energy in their bodies.

For Djokovic to have prevailed — after needing four hours and 50 minutes to beat Andy Murray in Friday’s semifinal — makes him superhuman.

Celtics smack Magic again…. 27 point comeback??!!!

The Orlando Magic trudged out of Boston this week, toting only embarrassment following a lopsided 31-point loss to the Celtics…..For a while it appeared as though the Magic would return the favor. Instead, the Celtics took advantage of Orlando’s fourth-quarter meltdown and erased a 27-point deficit to hand the Magic an even more humbling defeat on their home floor, 91-83 on Thursday night.

Paul Pierce had 24 points and 10 assists, and E’Twaun Moore added 16 points off the bench to help Boston beat Orlando for the second time this week.

Pierce and Moore had 10 points each in the fourth quarter to surge past a Magic team that led by 11 points entering the fourth quarter before shooting 2 for 17 from the field in the final 12 minutes. They scored just eight points in the period.

“Everybody was big,” Pierce said. “Obviously, when you got a rookie (Moore) who hasn’t played too much to come in and do the things he did, that’s big for us.

“This team decided to stand up and fight.”

Moore said the Celtics needed a game like this.
