NFL Weekend

Texans QB Matt Schaub 13/17, 189 YDS, 2 TD…..put the AFC on top  by throwing touchdown passes on each of its first two possessions, and then went to the bench,then came back in the fourth quarter to lead the AFC on the decisive scoring drive……In a game that featured no defense, and very few stops, it was the AFC’s two interceptions that proved to be the difference……Final score 41-34 AFC…..The all-time Pro Bowl series is now tied at 20 between the NFC and AFC….the NFL also announced it’s all decade team 2 Seahawks and 1 former Hawk made the team

 

This decade’s 53-player team is comprised of two quarterbacks, four running backs, one fullback, four wide receivers, two tight ends, four offensive tackles, four guards, two centers, four defensive tackles, four defensive ends, six linebackers, four cornerbacks, four safeties, two kickers, two punters, two kick returners and two punt returners. Current New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick and retired Colts coach Tony Dungy also were chosen for the team.

GTN 206 Weekend in Review

 

Serena Williams put an end to Justine Henin’s hopes of a Grand Slam title on her return from retirement with a 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 win in the Australian open Womens Final…this is Serena’s 5th Aussie Open Title and 12th Major Title overall…..Williams’ 12th singles major tied the great Billie Jean King’s career total…..Chris Evert and Martina Navratilova are Williams’ next goal, with 18 majors each….also Venus and Serena Williams won their fourth Australian Open women’s doubles title, by beating the #1 Womens Doubles team Liezel Huber & Cara Black 6-4,6-3.….It was the 11th time the Williams sisters have combined for a Grand Slam doubles title.

Roger Federer destroyed Andy Murray in the Aussie Open final Sunday to extend his own record to 16 Grand Slam titles ….. Federer continued a 74-year-old drought for British men at the Grand Slam tournaments….sorry Andy Murray

Former Washington Redskins head coach Jim Zorn has been hired by the Baltimore Ravens to be their quarterbacks coach….Zorn takes over for Hue Jackson, who left to become offensive coordinator of the Oakland Raiders.

Herschel Walker wins debut with a third round TKO victory over Greg Nagy…..Walker dominates all three rounds in route to his first MMA victory
